In Brief: Housing Authority wait lists open in Tacoma and Olympia

For the first time since 2019, the Tacoma Housing Authority (THA) will open its wait list on Nov. 15, while a wait list for Thurston County Housing Authority’s Evergreen Vista comes to a close on Nov. 12 — though that closing date may be extended based on the amount of applications.

In Tacoma, once the list opens for low-income households of nine or 10 people, it will remain until Friday, Dec. 3. According to THA Executive Director April Black, there are hundreds of people waiting for smaller units, but the THA anticipates openings just in their larger units for the next two years. If selected, those eligible will receive the opportunity to lease a THA-owned property, or receive a Housing Opportunity Program voucher.
